37820-pm6-a09 is this chippable or not?

37820-pm6-a09 is this a chipable ecu or not? i've tried searching, i'm gonna ask the guy selling it if he can open the case and take a pic of it, but i figure i'd ask here first. |

More than likely no, but if he pops the case and it has the chip slot, then yes.

Honda Civic 88-91 MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection) * The 88-89 MPFI ECUs (PM6-A080, is one example of the ECU code from these computers) for all intensive purposes are NOT chippable ECUs...they can however be equipped with a daughterboard that allows them to use a chip * The 90-91 MPFI ECUs (PM6-A09, PS9-A09….examples) are equipped from the factory with a soldered in Eprom chip, that can be desoldered and removed and replaced with an eprom socket. From here these ECUs can be easily tuned with the proper equipment. Because these are already MPFI from the factory, these vehicle can easily run an OBD1 ECU with an OBD0 to OBD1 ECU Conversion Harness making it even more versatile. I pulled that off of Chris site for another thread looks like should be chipable its stamped 89 but was probably in a 90 model year car since it was probably built in late 89 ;) |
Re: 37820-pm6-a09 is this chippable or not?

the price is worth it to just buy it and open the case myself, but i'd rather not wait a week to get it and findout i can't chip it. i hope he will open it and take a pic |

Re: 37820-pm6-a09 is this chippable or not?
I have that same ecu and I chipped it myself. ;)
I will take pics later if your still being a ---- about it. http://www.-------------/te.php?page=starting Chippable OBD0 ECU The easiest to find are the PM6/PR4/PS9/JDM PM7 ECUs. Make sure the PM6 you find or have is the chippable type. Easiest way is to check and make sure the code on the side reads PM6-A09 or PM6-L09. These are the USDM versions of the chippable PM6. PM6-C00 is the Canadian version that I know has an external Eprom as well. PR4 ECUs need to be PR4-A10/L10 or PR4A60/L60. PS9 ECUs should all be chippable and I'm not so sure on the JDM PM7 ECUs, I think these are chippable but I wouldnt even bother looking for one as they are more rare than the other ECUs in this list. See the ECU List for more info. |
