might help if you were a little more specific on what info you need...

I love EW3/D15A3's, and I like MS. Only MS I've dealt with are v3.0 boards with the MS-I processor, MSnS added on to control coil packs. Setup on MS is a bit annoying as it's somewhat wild west due to the grassroots nature of the units, but they run well once you have everything going.

Re: 1st gen crx turbo

it is ms2 but vot v3.0 2.25 i think. i dont know what else you will need to know about it. stock distributor with msd everything. it is cold here in ny. and i have been playing with the warm up wizard because it revs to the moon 3k when i first start it. according to the help page on mega tune it controlls the IAC. now i have been under the hood and eye fu**ed this thing around the throttlebody and i see no IAC hooked up. im sure it is whats on the back of the intake manifold with three hoses heading to it. two bigger hoses and one smaller one higher up on it. problem is its completely unplugged. no hoses and i dont know where the hell any of it goes in the first place aaaarrrrrrgggghhh! im begining to not like someoone elses handy work and tryiing to figure it all out. im going to put good pictures of this up on here so you guys can check this out and tell me what you think? i have found vacuum valves from a gm wired into it with no hoses going to it at all?????? once shes warm it virtually runs ok with the exception of the tail end of the ve table being a bit rich/safe.

See if you can get me more info? You are spitting a few numbers that don't neccesarily mean anything. v3.0 main boards can run MS-I or MS-II processors, both (can) support ignition, and 2.25 is the version of the Megatune software you are running.

As far as your mechanical Honduh-specific hardware... it's been a couple years since I owned my 86 CRX Si, and it was swapped quickly for a D16A1, but you should have a FIT-V that is just a valve that opens when cold to cause a high idle and shuts as the coolant running through it warms up. It's somewhere near the TB, or built into the bottom of the TB. The IACV is on the back of the intake manifold near-ish to the TB, also has coolant lines run to it, and there are passages in the manifold that allows the IACV to introduce air from in front of the throttle plate to the inside of the manifold to control idle. I don't know what could/would have three lines in and out of it, tho. Post pictures and I will be able to tell you what these items are, if they are equipped.

The simple fact of the matter is that neither are needed for a stock-like idle. The Miata I tuned with a v3.0 MS-I w/ MSnS had no idle control motor, or TPS sensor for that matter (MAPdot AE rules).

Block off the FIT-V, block off the IACV, and set the idle as follows:

- screw the idle bleed screw on the TB all the way in, and then a half turn back out.
- with the engine warm, set the idle rpm to exactly or just barely below desired idle level by adjusting the throttle stop that limits the travel of the TB pulley.
- if the idle is ba-a-a-a-arely below where you want it to be, start opening the idle bleed until you hit the desired rpm.

I suspect these things have already been done - at the very least, all the later Honduh IACVs are closed when unplugged and yours should be too. Your idle problem when cold is probably because coolant temp enrichment hasn't been set... you need to hook a wideband to the car when it is dead cold and adjust the CTS enrichment as it warms up, go for 13-ish to 1 AFRs as fuel falls out of suspension really easy with a cold engine.

FWIW, I'd like you to post questions, answers and fixes you do, etc, to this forum to proliferate MS knowledge here. Or post links to where you got your answers, as a favor to HMT? To be perfectly honest, msefi.com's forum answered my Q's in a prompt fashion, a fairly knowledgible user by the name of Jim has been on an informational ass kicking campaign over there, handing out good advice to all comers. Not that he isn't the only good egg over there. :)

Re: 1st gen crx turbo

im going to try to block off all of these un needed passages for starters! and im sure its like your saying and the throttle blade has been set like a carb would be on an older car. as for the exact ms system i have i couldnt tell wich one it is then. could you tell by looking at the box in the car? i had several of these cars when i was 18 and even did a motor swap on one, but its aamazing how much you forget over time. i converted to mitsubishi some 8 years ago and forgot how much fun these hondas were. i guess there isnt much for me to try to figure out or explain till i get some pictures up of this beast! im also going to put some pics up of my mitsu! i think any turbo lover would be impressed with! OH YEAH ANYONE LOOKING FOR POWDER/HIGH HEAT COATINGS AND FANCY CUSTOM COATINGS LEMME KNOW! WE DO WHEELS TOO! PICS COMING SOON GUYS!

Re: 1st gen CRX turbo

I know this is an old post, but I had an '87 CRX with a T3 running MS.
I ran one of the original MegaSquirts with no spark or idle control.
You say your in NY?
This wouldn't happen to be a lime green CRX would it?

Re: 1st gen crx turbo

this has to be the car. i need some info on it? i bought it off a kid in syracuse and he didnt know ---- about it. its lime green alright. in the middle of doing some major fiberglass work to it and driving it to work n such. it has a turbonetics turbo on it and im sure the injectors r 390's. i had to replace almost evervthing from the flywheel to the axles after i bought it but ill tell ya after a littl playing with it it is a missle now compared to when i bought it.

Re: 1st gen CRX turbo

That sure sounds like my car.
Yellow interior?
Yup, did he try to take credit for building it? He did around Syracuse, til he tried to bullshit a friend of mine. pwned!!!

The turbo was a T3 off a Saab, liquid cooled, oil lubed.
The MSD crap I believe is actually disconnected, unless he replaced it. The BTM took a ---- like 2 months after he bought it from me a couple years ago.
I bought the MegaSquirt off a dude on ebay and never had any trouble with it.
The MS software has changed and is light years ahead of where it was when I was using it.

I did all the fabrication myself, with the exception of the manifold adapter that Sam made for me. (for the record, that adapter you have is the first 1st gen T3 adapter he ever machined)
The kid drove that car like it was stolen. He launched at every light and smoked the tranny in no time.
I had always wanted to machine the crank for a 2nd gen throwout bearing to give the input shaft the much needed support, but never got to it.
I forget now about the injectors, if they're not blue tops, then they're 390's from a 'teg I think. I did that install like 3 years ago.
I would love to see pics of it now!!
It's nice to know that it's in the hands of an appreciative owner.

Re: 1st gen crx turbo

so the msd ---- doesnt work huh? yeh the kid had no idea how to drive a car. i asked him straight up when i bought it if he did it or someone else did it. he said someone else did it. i got rid of all the interior that was yellow except the steering wheel.(by the way!!! who in the hell spray adhesived the seat covers to the seats???) i bought another crx with mint interior and a blown engine and stole the tranny, interior, and some other odds and ends. im in the middle of doing some major bodywork to it right now. i have upgraded the intercooler and air filter system. i also made a guage pod where the cubby hole is in the center of the dash. back to the msd and the rest of the car. whats the ms equipped with for a map sensor? boost? whats the limit? is the engine stock internals? anything tip on it tricks info would be helpfull! iwould like to call you sometime and get some more detail info from you if you wouldnt mind. this is new to me playing with a non turbo car that has a turbo. i also own a hellacious starion. i have to get some time to post some pics. more later the daylight is here.
