1k resistor, matter which way it goes?

yeah having some problems with my ecu (first time, gotta learn sometime!) quick question. does it matter which way i solder the 1k resistor?

nope, direction does not matter with resistors

Yup Sinner is spot on. Only diodes, some capacitors and logic chips need to be soldered in the correct orientation.

You should hit up some of the write-ups on chipping. Your questions as of alte have been pretty basic.

sorry for giving you something else to talk about besides who sucks dick

Damn, I don't know which one of you is more correct. :l

Can anyone give me some soldering advice? Ive tried chipping two p06's and neither one of them work. I can remove j1 and they work like stock. So I don't think I'm to far off. It just pisses me off soldering can't be that hard to do. I just need some basic soldering guidance. :y

Oh and Ajxr I told you a week or so ago chipping an ecu isn't as easy as you think. *L* Ive got another p06 setting here and I'm wrestling with sending it out to someone or trying one more time. I should probably take the advice I gave you and send it out. But it hurts my pride to give up and not learn for myself

well mine works!!!!!!!!!! hahaha!

i found out its easiest to just un-solder where the eprom and hc74373 will go. for the resistor, capacitors, and j1 jumper do not un-solder the ecu! just hold them with a small pair of needle nose and press them into the solder thats on the ecu while you heat up the solder with your iron... sounds lame but worked perfect for me! i just got done with my setup 15 mins ago, once the jb cures ill be spoolin once again. ill post up some pics tomorrow night.

Now that is something worth asking about. I would recommend just de-soldering the holes for the resistors and caps.

How do you get the socket and IC in without desoldering? :S

i said those were the only ones i de-soldered, re-read
