Post GM announcing $190M investment in Lansing to build Cadillac ATS

We now know exactly where General Motors will build its new small Cadillac. The company has announced that it will be investing $190 million into its Grand River Assembly facility in Lansing, Michigan so that the plant can produce the ATS. The company says that the move will provide work for around 600 people, though at this point, it’s unclear whether those workers are in addition to the 1,133 workers currently employed at the facility. Right now, the plant builds six models, including all of the variants of the CTS as well as the SRX.

The Grand River Assembly announcement is only the latest in a series of investments that GM has announced for a slew of plants in Michigan. Thanks to some generous tax breaks from the Michigan Economic Growth Authority, the automaker has promised to put money into a new battery facility in Warren, and the company’s Delta Township Assembly plant is slated for an additional $37 million in upgrades as well.
