Polyurathane Motor Mounts

Do you have sloppy old worn out motor mounts? need to stiffen them up a bit? Having problems with wheelhop? This section discuss how to make very stiff motor mounts for very cheap!

First off you will need to buy a set of Polyurathane Inserts for your model car. Best prices I have seen are from www.lightningmotorsports.com

Part # (Crx/Civic 88-91) #8-1903 Cost $36.63

3 Motor mounts shown for the Crx. Pass Side Mount/Driver Side mount and the Front mount. The 4th mount is included in the poly kit (rear mount), it is not shown.

What makes this differnt then just slapping these inserts in? Well we will be sealing them in with a polyurathane sealant.

The product is 3M Window Weld, Part #08609 Cost is around 10-15 bucks at local Automotive stores.

Fill a nice fat beed of the silcone in the motor mount, (dont worry about making a mess) Try to use an even amount on both sides of the mount.

Once the silcone is in the mount, you will need to insert the polyurathane insert and squeeze it in, You can also do this by using a vise.

All completed. As you can see some of the silcone will splurge out the sides when you press the insert in. Once dried the black silcone can pick right off the insert to make it look alot better, (but whos going for looks?). Let them dry for over 24 hours before you put them back in.

The downside? well you will be able to feel the engine alot more in the inside of the car, vibrations/rattles/squeeks will appear... So I warn you now, if you can't handle some squeeks do not do this!

Also, If you do not wish to buy the inserts and just use the 3M window Weld that is possible, check this link http://importnut.net/motormount.htm

Good luck
