Well, I have gernaded 3 D-series Motors in the past. Beau has blown up 1 B-series and 1 D-Series. This is not something I enjoy doing but sometimes it just happens. The first 2 I was kinda pissed about, but the 3rd motor I really didn't care since it was giving to me for free. Do it right the first time! <- Unlike myself who does everything cheap!

This was my First ZC (RIP) lived 2 days on boost 15+ PSI with no engine managment or a intercooler. This one is pretty obvious why it blew up. Pure detonation killed this motor, Ring lands broke on 2 pistons. There was no damage done to the block at all...

This is the stock ZC head Gasket that was just scorched. Suprising the car ran pretty well even though the motor was blown.
The Next Motor that I blew was the ZC out of my 90dx. It had alot of miles on it and was tired anyways. I was getting a bit cocky with boost, I had been boosting for 6psi for almost a year on my a6 and the ZC just hauled, I wanted more, so I went to home depot and made a homemade boost control that didnt work to well. It was a basic valve, that restricted the amount of air that went to the wastegate. Anyhow it kinda got fucked up and boost was right around 14psi when it finally let loose. The rod snapped right in half, and the piston smacked the valves. Dont Get COCKY WITH BOOST! D-series motors are very weak and cannot support anything over 220hp on stock rods.

no pics.. All the shit blew right out onto the road...

This is the 3rd Motor I blew, a d15b2 Dx motor. This motor was giving to me, so I really did not care when this thing blew, I just knew it would be a matter of time before this one went. I wanted this thing to blow up at the track and it didnt! I had this bitch cranked up to 13 psi at the track (with a real boost controller) and it held! I think the only reason this motor stayed alive for as long as it did, was the Zdyne Gold SECU and 450cc injectors, it never detonated. When it did blow, I was only boosting at around 8psi but I was trying to see how fast top end it could go, and then it let loose! BOOM! (RIP) 2 1/2 Months of HELL BOOST!

The Impact when this motor let loose was pretty bad, It hit really hard! Blew a hole threw the front and back of the block, Not to mention it blew a hole threw the oil pan denting my downpipe!

Not 1 rod broke but 2! snapped right off, check out these pistons! they tagged the head and bent the valves too!

Suprisingly the Main girdle didnt exlplode like it did on the ZC, it did break but nothing like the ZC girdle. Possibly its just because the crank is alot smaller on the d15b2.

Beaus First ZC Turbo Project, Mazda 626 turbo/Hf Manifold running 8psi of boost, Non-Intercooled with No Engine Managment. I told him it would not last, but he didnt listen to me, I said give it 3 months before it blows and I was right! it lasted 2 1/2 months of some serious hardcore driving! Blew up on X-man Eve! Another example of To much boost on a D-series bottom end.

The turbo kit was sold, and a b16a was installed a few months later.

Beau's B16a Blown Motor! Piston Ring lands broke on all 4 pistons. Unknown why this motor ever blew...
