Turbo must be mineee
Hi I am a college student who wants a turbo baaaad. I have a mr2 mk1 1986 4age I am thinking about doing a low budget build with.
If not I want a civic del sol. maybe hatch coupe 4 door accord idk. something cheap to turbo. plus im starting to think it would be cheaper than doing the mr2.
any advice would help especially if a mr2 can be done for the civic price (which seems cheapest for me)
side note any other cheap cars to turbo? 200sx. Civic seems to be calling me. del sol
Excited to be here.

The main drawback with turboing a 4AGE is you're unlikely to find an off the shelf manifold for the turbo, so you'll often need to weld up your own or find someone who's selling parts off a turbo build. The other drawback is the stock ECU doesn't take well to boost, but that's easily replaced. We've even got a plug and play option for them: http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/m...ans-p-503.html
We happen to have a turbo '86 MR2 hanging around our shop, so you can check out our notes on how this car is set up here:

I feel like it would be cheaper because harness should be similar they are both mr2s, used gze parts. I heard of someone using the stock ecu but the gze ecu also works? If the 4a blows it's cheaper than the gze as a whole. Also people turbo on stock so hoping sc would survive. I just wanna feel a little more power like a del sol with a jrsc

The mspnp seems expensive. But after that I would just need the ic, sc, and everything?
But also the mspnp will save of transferring all the gze parts?
I'm not looking for too much speed, just want a bare minimum build
