Re: LS Rod Swap.... How To
ahem....
when it comes to machining engine internals that are going to be turning at warp speed, DO NOT TAKE ANYONES ADVICE!!!!
1) measure twice
2) compare the two rods
3) subtract the bigger from the smaller
4) divide by two
5) machine each side w/ #4's answer

Re: LS Rod Swap.... How To
yeah I know to measure it twice, I was just going to use your measurements for reference. So are all the Vitaras 19mm bc one that site it says that the 98-00 you could get them in 21mm to match exactly. I just wanted to do that bc I emailed Crower asking about the bushings and they have yet to email me back .

Re: LS Rod Swap.... How To
Ill try to find it again, Ill post it up as soon as i get it.
Alright heres the link. They say that you have to bush the end of the LS rod then about half way down the page they mention a certain piston that uses the 21mm pin and the LS rod then wouldnt need to be bushed.

Re: LS Rod Swap.... How To
here's something interesting that i found out from Crower:
i was just going to order the set of machined bushings for $40. and he was very reluctant on selling them to me. the reason (what he told me) is that ppl were ------- them up as they were putting them in, then calling back and bitching.. so i just bought 12" of silicone bronze from their source.
and yes i fucked 1 up pressing it into the rod, and fucked 2 other ones up reaming them on the drill press ( betweeen 2 sets of rods)
just FYI

Re: LS Rod Swap.... How To
would you suggest I drill a hole on top of the rod head for oil?
i didn't
just make sure that you use a good assembly lube when you put it all back together
jecu....
go ahead and talk to the guy. but be warned.... "when you press those bushings in, make sure those ----------ers are straight". and use oil to help them glide in.
