Wrong, every country in Europe has speed limits, even Germany, although their autobahns (highway I think in the us) have no limits, the rest of their roads do.

I live in the uk and we've got speed cameras everywhere, expensive car tax, and huge fines if you dont pay it, plus your car can get impunded and crushed, expensive cars, insurance that goes up if you have a fast car, and goes up more if you modify it, and we pay around $1.60 a litre for gas.

If we drive drunk or with no licence or insurance and get caught more than a couple of times we get jail time, dunno if you do in the US

Be glad you drive in the US

Yes, we get to go to jail for that, too. Not the insurance and not so much the no license(for the first few times anyways), but DUI is jail time. They will let you serve it on the weekends if you're not a complete shitbag and you have a job most of the time. I think the 3rd time in a certain period of time gets you 3 months. A friend of mine has one of those things you have to blow into to start your car. He owns a business so they won't throw him in jail even though he's had like 437 DUI's.

Thats a pretty cool idea, over here you will get at least a year driving ban for a first offence on a DUI, whatever your job.

The jail time is mainly for no insurance/no licence, unless you are caught DUI when already banned.

Damn, I'd be on death row by now. I've had literally dozens of no insurance tickets. 23 years old and I just recently(within 6 months) became an insured driver.

In MN, as all states, they make you have insurance. But they have almost no measures to make you have it. The only way is IF you get pulled over, and IF the cop asks for it, and IF he actually issues you a citation for it. Then you can just pay some shady insurance agent to insure you yesterday, so long as you don't make any claims on that day, tey don't care.

Otherwise registration, purchasing ect does not require insurance.

Out here the first thing the cops ask for is registration and insurance. Everytime, no matter what. The fine out here is about $425 and if you go get insurance they drop it to around $125. When you register a vehicle they give you 30 days to send them proof of insurance or they will cancel your registration.

I wish I could find a shady insurance agent.
