I live in the uk and we've got speed cameras everywhere, expensive car tax, and huge fines if you dont pay it, plus your car can get impunded and crushed, expensive cars, insurance that goes up if you have a fast car, and goes up more if you modify it, and we pay around $1.60 a litre for gas.
If we drive drunk or with no licence or insurance and get caught more than a couple of times we get jail time, dunno if you do in the US
Be glad you drive in the US

Thats a pretty cool idea, over here you will get at least a year driving ban for a first offence on a DUI, whatever your job.
The jail time is mainly for no insurance/no licence, unless you are caught DUI when already banned.

Otherwise registration, purchasing ect does not require insurance.

Then you can just pay some shady insurance agent to insure you yesterday, so long as you don't make any claims on that day, tey don't care.

I wish I could find a shady insurance agent.
