Not really, K-rods and the bearings that ride on them are -----. You have to stuff units from a nearly 20 year old engine into a K to make it hold okay power levels without shitting the bed.
interesting. my buddies K20 see's 11k rpms every weekend, no problems yet. its still stock with the exception of Kpro, a header, exhaust and intake.

I'm not impressed. They give it 20 more hp, some fancy wheels, and a body kit and expect it to take on American cars in that price range? SRT-4's would have a field day with that car. I bet even a Cobalt SS would ---- on it. Let's not even talk about WRX's and at the hype-R price range STi's and Evo's.

What Honda should really do is pull up their skirt, grab their *****, and make a real sports car in the $20,000 neighborhood to compete with SRT-4's and what not. And I'm not talking about the S2000, those things are slow.

Interesting. There's power to be had at 11K on stock cams, valvesprings? Running a timing chain? And these are the engines that come apart when overrevved... comes apart in pieces the size of your thumbnail, everything internal just flies to flinders. A couple of the local guys with bolt ons, cam, K-poop have been through a few engines each because they over rev them.

Plus, K-poop is an untunable setup... AFRs on tip in are NOT repeatable because Hyundaidata still hasn't figured out what is going on with the K-ECU at the $1000 a pop price level, and reading a max of 11.5:1 AFR on a boosted car is a ------- joke - I am expected to wash the rings with gasoline and lean it outy blind, or am I expected to run it lean at 20 psi and expect it to last long enough to tune it rich? Dougie needs to beg Derek to set the ignorant thing up to log from an aftermarket wideband via an unused ECU pin, and quit marketing usage of the completely inadequate stock piece as a selling point.

I've been through enough of those cars, Frank, to know what I am talking about. Those things are junk.

:shrugs:
id love to have one. I want one. im probably gonna own one before I leave okinawa.

Not sayin he makes power at 11k, a downshift nailing 11k comming from a corner is 11k in my book. He drove his from the showroom in '03, been rebuilt once due to lack of oil while gymkhana'n in '05...been running the same set-up since then. To say they are junk is a bit much IMO. My guess, people in the states are ------ um up. Just like they did B's when they were recongized in the USDM. The only place ive even looked at is IPS for parts stateside. Open up vtec sports magazine, they rant over the K.

What does reading an advertisement have to do with tech, Frank? You realise those rags are there to tell people who don't understand technical merits what parts they need to buy regardless of whether or not they are parts that do anything.

I repeat, I've seen enough K-faggotry to do me. When the good cheap Civic/DA chassis are gone, and the readily available supply of A/B/D/F/H's in good shape has dried up, I'm gone from the Honduh thing. I've already started tuning non-Honduhs, and might have a shot at a freaking drag bike next month.

i will agree with you there. Thats something thats hurting honda is that you can get a faster car with the price they are asking at least in the sport category. Not everyone is just looking for a realiable sports car. if they want something reliable they just get a regular civic that cost less. They do need to up the ani on performance and not just want it to run circles around a track
