Tell them to give you a try for a week. If they like you...fine. You're hired.

Then tell them if they don't like you after that week... Tell them that they don't need to pay you and you'll go your separate ways.

They will have to pay you by law. But, That offer will make you stand out among the rest (& get you in the door).
