To find out what device that computer needs push the windows key on your keyboard and R at the same time. Then type devmgmt.msc, hit enter, expand the network adapters control then see if there's no drivers or an exclamation point.

There is a "?" next to the linksys network adapter, along with the modem.

i think its cause its a b and a G.
I had a similar problem. My wireless router was a lynksys G and i had a Wireless card on my lap top that had a B and it would drop the signal all the time. Suck for downloading ****....

It says it's compatible, but I know it is because I got it working on MY computer with XP, but this other POS with XP was just too damn old and slow and couldn't get on the internet.....the other one with 98 did get on the internet, but the damn linksys wasn't compatible with 98. 
The new computer is 800mhz with XP and an ethernet card so if I have problems with this one.....the guy was supposed to call me to come get it, but of course he didn't I knew he wouldn't because he's already got my money so what's the hurry? 
I have no problems kicking a computer geeks *** over this situation at this point.

wireless G and B are compatible 100%.
