Windows XP No Sound
for some reason I reloaded windows and now it says there are no sound devices when I go into control panel. I don't know how to put them on there or is it somethinkg in the bios that I have to change. I am pissed because I have to play half-life with no sound and it sucks.

Re: Windows XP No Sound
Drivers for sure. First find out if you have onboard sound (integrated onto your motherboard) or if it's in a PCI slot... (it would be horizontal and down lower)
1) If it's integrated, go to the motherboard manufacturer's website to download the sound drivers
2) if it's a PCI card (like soundblaster live!) go to that website for that manufacturer
Is it a pre-made pc? (IE: Dell, Gateway, E-machine, etc)

Re: Windows XP No Sound
Windows XP is know for that. Easiest way to fix that is get a $30 6.1 surround PCI card.
Or just run MAC OS / XP. I run Windows 2000 NT and my computer is faster than my moms that was built 3 months ago. Oh yeah mines a 3 to 4 year old server.

HAHA! Oh thats what it is. I forgot to turn my speakers on. If it was that I would have never posted. Anyways I went to dell.com and downloaded the "right " driver for it but when it get to the last part it says that it is incompatable. What the hell?
