i am assuming it is a file. if u know the file name u can always dig it out with dos interface (command promp) when u presss F8on start up

Look for a program called Cain and Able. Its a password recovery tool. Or just do a yahoo search on "password recovery tool", find one you like, search for it on mininova and your good.

safe mode doesn't let you retrieve files? I could have sworn that's how I saved my paper.
