With windows 98 I usually just use a win98 startup disk and format it in dos.

The nice thing about the win98 startup disk is that you can start the computer back up with cd-rom support opposed to the old hassel of finding the right drivers. Anyways I've never had it not work.

I dont have to do that anymore with the newerwindows which you can just choose to format (2000, and XP)

Anyways just go into dos, type Format C:
it will ask if your sure say yes...it'll take a while. Then boot back up with the startupdisk if you dont have one make sure to make one...... and then you can go through setup on the cd drive and install. Easy enough?

tsk tsk tsk..

boot from your win98 disk...

at the prompt enter... "format c: /q" then press enter.

you can leave out the "/Q" if feel like waiting half an hour to format your drive.

good luck.. i guess if we never hear from u again u screwed it up! lol.

i bought my computer from work for 5 dollars!! they upgrade computers every two years, so it's only three years old (they sat in a room for a year before they finally sold them) and i got xp for free from my boy who just bought a dell!! this means in 1yr, i get to buy a newer one for 5 bucks, oh btw, this is a coplet cpu bundle and monitor and they also just came out with a new benefit at my work, "computer reimbursement" if you've been with the company for a 1-3 years, they will reimburse you up to 700 dollars for a home computer, 1-5 years is 1000 dollars, and over 5 years is full reimbursement!
