Eh, I kinda feel bad for the guy and how I treated him. I take the moral stance that giving kids basemaps encourages them to boost on them, where I make them come to me on stock ECU MAP and injectors so there is no ------- around. In retrospect I understand he is only supplying a demand, and further that my ivory tower ---- retentiveness is quite pointless at times - in this example, the sort of idiot who blows their car up on a poorly running basemap would also find a way to rig or molest a correctly tuned vehicle so that it comes apart as well. It is commonly agreed that phearable's forced induction basemaps are atrocious, but all things considered he appears to be an honest business entity and to have learned a thing or two about tuning. I had forgotten about my title, to be honest I plan to change it when I get to a computer.

I met a kid last October that was running a Phearable chip. The way the kid was going on about it he pretty much made it sound like it was a complete tune done on a dyno. When I asked him why the hell he still had a fmu hooked up, he said it was because his "tooner" said he was running too lean when they put it on the dyno. I got the impression that he bought a basemap with the idea that it was a pop in and ready to go apeshit type of deal...neither he nor his "tooner" had any clue wtf they were doing.

I actually haven't encountered anything but pretty good experiences from phearable, w/na or boost maps.

I know of one a couple years ago, my friend boosted his stock 95 ls, and he said it was super rich at WOT, and was slow, but part throttle was good....

however, i know personally about 3 guys successfully using them on built na setups (not optimized of course), and a few guys using them on turbo setups (of course not optimized either). I was suprised myself. I could go into more detail, but it's not necessary.

i regretfully have one in my car right now, but i'm not driving it until i can get a wb in and at least see how dismal it is before i decide "ok, i really need a tune".

suprisingly though, it SEEMS to run really well, even at WOT, (yes I know that it SEEMING to run well means dick, just sayin)

that's just some personal experience.

Yeah, unless you're buying a setup like an aem or hondata you just have to keep in mind that you're paying for a basemap. To me it's a little rediculous to pay that much for just a chip with a basemap on it and then still have to tune it, you'd be better off in the long run buying a burner and some chips and learning to do it yourself.
