Your mom doesn't want you to throw money into a car that she knows you're never going to get back.... and shes right. Yea it might be fun and you'll enjoy it but it really is stupid if you really think about it. Plus if you just save your money religously you'll probably be able to buy a faster car out the box and be more reliable and more comfortable. Building up you're daily driver is never really a bright idea. I personally think building a honda or whatever should only be a hobby or if you have another daily driver. It took me a while to get to this point because i once too was spending all my money i made on cars. Then i realized...even if i'm rolling around in a benz or whatever i'm still going to be living with my parents and thats just not cool. Yea i'm only 19 but having a house and a flat screen or a big *** tv all to myself is a lot more cooler than a sick car. Even then i could refi the house and buy a ------- modena to rip around in.
Yea i know i'm gonna get flamed for this but it's the truth.

my mom ask me what`s going on everytime when i work on my car, and i kept on telling her something broke that i have to replace it..EVERY SINGAL TIME. note that she don`t know ---- about car, when she`s young she used to sit behind my Dad`s bike and race around town.

start from day one when i change the oil
mom : "do you know what you are doing, why don`t you take it to a shop and i will pay for it"

as time pass by after she watched me actually working on stuff :
mom :"make sure you do it right"

to me fixing friends car/do suspension ----
mom: "make sure you tighten down everything"

to me swapping engines
mom: "why does you car keep on breaking down"

to recently when she`s watching me checking oil level.
she pointed to the external wastegate and said : "that thing `s not there before, what have you done to your car?"
right when she said that i am kinda speechless coz i don`t know how to make up ---- to cover it up

my mom`s kinda crazy,
once we were on the way to las vegas, i was going at 120, all in a suddent she asked "why is everyone driving so slow?"
i am like " only because i am driving a little faster than normal" i told here we are going at 120mph, all she said was " oh that`s realy fast is it :P "
i`ve took her in my car hitting full boost at 3th, all she said is "don`t drive too fast, you are passing everyone now "

My mom really doesn't give a ----. She likes that I'm learning about cars, because then I can work on everyone elses. She's pretty open minded about things. My dad borrowed his mom's wagon to go to his prom in. Then instead of taking his date to dinner, or whatever else was popular back then, he went straight to the local street races, tux, date, and all. The funy thing was his mom followed him all night. But now he's more concerned about me not screwing up, and wasting my money. So he thinks its cool that I like to work on cars and all, but he wants me to keep it off the streets, and build a drag car. I know he'd be pissed if he knew all the ---- I do, he even told me he'd kick my *** if he found out I do some of the ----. But eh...

my dad completely understands my love of cars, he loves cars too. he understand anything i say? not really. for him (when he was younger) it was just a 'stage' that passed like most men. does he understand why i put all my money into my car? no...does he know HOW much i have put into it, ---- no i wouldnt even try to explain that and if i did i would just say "at least im not on drugs...". but i dont live at home anymore so i dont need to explain ---- to him
