The trend lately is for a company to make more profit no matter what - so people can get screwed. My union does have minimum raises but were also eligible for additional merit based raise on top of that.

I like the benefits that come with being in the union, but when you see a guy who crashed his delivery truck, didn't report it for two days, and refused a drug test get his job back because the general manager didn't have certain papers signed and on file, it makes you wonder how helpfull they really are. At least you have the security of knowing it's really tough to get fired from a union job.

I hate union. They were good in 1930, but has not to be nowaday.

I haven't got the job just yet, but I have applied. I fit the description very well. Salary.com says to ask for the $70k range for pay. I wouldn't take the job for anything under $60k. $60k in N. Indiana is good money. With my wife working, we should come to almost 90k a year, combined. Probably getting my hopes up.
