I bet that guys wagon only works good in the gravel or snow, he doesn't have anything to controll drivetrain windup. In otherwords no slip at all, like a 4x4 on dry pavement but with weakish parts.

My wagovan that I'm driving right now (I bought it for extra parts) has a newly rebuilt coupler in it and the fronts wont spin at all, it kicks in too quick

I'd be tempted to get rid of the coupler and run a solid driveshaft... or a rotoflex coupling if you want to minimize intial drivetrain shock on the weak-ish rear end.

I dont know what a roto-flex is but I thought about trying a solid driveshaft but I just can see it working on the street, awd always has something that will alow slippage to compensate foor driveline windup and 4x4's arn't for dry pavement but who knows without trying

Some BMW guys call rotoflex couplings "gee-BOWS." I suspect they do this because it sounds extraordinarily gay.

BMW 1600/2002 used them as a vibration damping flex point in their driveshafts, other BMWs may have as well. I had a couple Triumphs that used them as a flex point in the rear IRS/halfshafts. Basically a rubber donut.

I thought thats what you were talking about but that will only take up the "shock" not windup. My co-workers rollsroyce had one two.

Shock is what damages weak drivetrain, just like sudden hammering jolts from high freq detonation you can't hear breaks ringlands and hammers upper rod bearing shell against the crankshaft.

There are some people running stock D-series differentials - know weak piles of ---- - in 10 and 11 second cars with success. Whereas Mista Bone shatters them in flat 15 second cars by launching too hard instead of slipping the clutch a hair to avoid sudden shock before raw ******* it.
