I've been wondering this myself lately. I don't mind my job, but I hear people talk about actually enjoying their job and enjoying going to work. I honestly think it would be worth it to make less doing something you truely enjoy doing. If you could find something that pays more that you actually enjoy doing, that would be way cool....but next to impossible. :P

I think there are days when NOBODY wants to get up and go to work, NO MATTER what it is they do. I think it's just the fact that it is work, and that it is YOUR responsibility that gets old sometimes...I HATE gettin' out of the bed at 6:00 in the morning, no matter what it is I have to get up for. But once I'm up and going, I really don't dread going to work at all(unless it's 30-40 degrees outside, and that's because I run a pressurewasher/steamgenie). I get a real feeling of accomplishment from my job and I work with a bunch of fools who like to talk ----, and cut up and have a good time. Plus I enjoy working outside. IT WOULD BE NICE TO MAKE MORE, but I would have to see a SUBSTANTIAL pay increase to leave the job I have now.

I have a debate, I don't mind my job I have now, but the pay blows for my area. I think that I would be happier if I moved back to where I grew up, back north, and got a job. I wouldn't being using my college degree, but I think I would be pretty happy in the end and be able to make good money for the area and buy a house in a timely fashion vs. living in an apartment all my life where i am at now.

I don't mind my job. I'm a service tech and am on the road all day. Its different everyday, and I only actually work 5 hours on average. I get to run all my errands while on the clock and I can stop off at every bone yard in the state!! Plus I get a service van so thats a bonus.

I KNOW all the capitalists will call me an idiot for sayin' it, but I think ALOT of people waste a good portion of their life thinkin' that money is the most or one of the most important thing there is, and that you can't be happy if you're not making as much money as possible...

My pops-in-law would eat your face.

He has problems, thinking money is the best thing ever. I've come to realize that with the career I'm in, unless I own my own shop, I will never make that much. And on top of that, sometimes work gets slow, and raises have to wait (this doesn't sit too well with me...) until it picks back up. My boss is an old-school, crotchety, grumpy old man, and I really dread dealing with him when he's pms-ing. Low pay, no benefits, workin outside sometimes when it's 110* out...

However, when I'm assembling a motor/machining I'm loving it. I wouldn't want to do anything else for a living. A buddy of mine and I went to a local carshow this weekend, and an older ford pickup, with a 460cid motor I built, won the burnout competition(in my opinion, they didn't actually judge...) The thing sounded great. Really the only real benefits I have are being able to build stuff for myself, and of course the knowledge my boss shares...

Lately, I've been a little unhappy since my last raise(supposed to be in the begining of feb) passed me by. Even with the minimum wage increase out here in cali, and current pricing for real-estate, I got nothing. I'll be talking to the boss soon about it though, and we'll see what happens.

Bottom line: If you're unhappy with any aspect of your job, it can affect your feelings about the job as a whole, if you let it.
