If you an electrician, start your own business. that's what I did, sometimes i only make 500-800 a week, but sometimes you can make a lot more. I hooked up a store front sign for dollar general sat, 5 hours =1,425.00 that ---- pays off man. I started this business a year ago, and average bout' 4,000-5,000 a month with no employees. I am 24 with a house, 05 sierra, 05 envoy, (payments) bigscreen, like 10 hondas, wifey, 2 kids etc..stc..stc. I still have plenty of play money. You just have to find something that works for you and do it. one word of advice though....you'll never make any money working for somebody else.

Its cool Dr. Boost, im in the same boat as you man, but i just got laid off, and NO ONE is hireing right now, and i only graduated hs, so im pretty much fucked, not to meantion i have gout witch is a really painful, and a list of other health probs, if you got your health, your cool, ill be ok, but dont forget, theres people out there way worse off than you and me.

Continue to work for the company, and offer your services on craigslist ect. You won't be able to charge what your boss charges the people, but you should be a little more than your hourly right now. Side work leads to a network, and once you're in the network, you're on your own like Accordxboost

Im 24, I will be 27 when I leave the military. I hope to buy a house when I leave here and move back to Indiana. My wife already has her parents business (www.indianarugco.com) with her sister that they will be taking over, and I hope to switch to a civilian DOD job (GS position if anyone knows what that is).
We hope to have our first kid within the next year and a half...and go from there. Its a plan...and we are working on it.

I've always made exactly as much money as I'm interested in making. Who gives a ----? You can't take any of it with you when you die. Stop goddamn stressing and enjoy a day off once in a while... I just got back from the park at the bottom of the hill with the kid, we were firing off illegal fireworks I picked up in SC today. Tomorrow we go tubing down the Green River Gorge. Good stuff. One day I'll be dead and gone, and she'll remember I was there, and that is all that matters to me.
Soul maybe, but you're so going to hell... and BD or one of the other less than white HMTers will probably be the one to stick you there.

im 23 and im toying with the idea of buying a house currently... Justin seriously man, you should see if you can move to outside work as a lineman. True, somtimes the conditions you work in and around can be shitty andyou have to climb and do high voltage/dangerous work but out here in ny the journeyman rate is like $36/hr and there is LOTS of work available, and thats straight time. If you go on storm youre making doubletime. Thats how some journeymen i know made 150K in like 10 months. Seriously It can be challenging but i enjoy challenges.

Boost/Steve and all those other nogs that are electritians/plumbers/painters/handymen, etc.
Find a local hardware store that has a good rep. Make really good friends with owner(s), and find out if they have a referral list. If they do, try to get on it by being all buddy-buddy and ----. We have a list at the hardware store I manage, and we give out like 20-30 of these lists a day. There are quite a few guys that get about 40% of their work from these referrals, even more with the word-of-mouth that comes from the previous customers.
Just some advice if you're thinking of doing ---- on your own. It's all about who you know
