Re: where do HMT peeps work????
how much do you make? raises? i hope to goto UTI for BMW training
i got out of tech school in may and have been working full time since then, i should be at the 30k+ mark by the end of the year, mad flat rate yo. i'm going down to jersey for STEP training middle of november though, getting that master technician status thing.
i just want to go for the dealership program. haven't decided, audi or bmw :P
if by BMW dealership program you mean STEP, it's tougher than you might think to just get in. You have to have completed tech school and did well (3.5+ gpa area), have a clean as a newborn babies ******** driving record, go through an interview thats not your typical i just applied at wal-mart interview, and take a 100 question ase style test. Then if they think your right for them, you "get in". It's not just pay a rediculous amount of money and you get in like UTI, Wyotech, or such.

it's not so easy to get a job at a high line dealer, at least up here in the northeast it isn't. and plus they won't just start training you as a tech like jiffy lube, they can't have rookies forgetting oil drain plugs in brand new E65's :P
and also i've been working for bmw for a little while now and they haven't mentioned anything about a mandated snap on tool kit, and if you think snap on is expensive, try turning a craftsman wrench all day and see how much gas you waste going to sears every week.

Re: where do HMT peeps work????
its not as easy as u might think...u have to take all the regular automotive corses then b4 u graduate the program (MSAT) has to pick u and u have to hold i think a 95% average through out ur corse...its suttin like 8000 students graduate a yr and there is only 1800 seats in the msat program...and then after u get out of msat the dealer that hired payed for your training requires u to work for them so then u have to live where ever they r for a year or wut ever ur contract states
most dealer contracts are 3 yrs, at least for bmw, not too sure on the audi perspective of things. they aren't gonna pay for your training and then not utilize all the money you make them for a good deal of time.

Delivery is the way to go. At Papa John's on good Saturday nights I could pull in $15/hr, normal hours and days were like $10ish, but the people there suck. But right now I have no job, but I'll call up a Chinese place in a bit and apply.
