My experience working on VW's is limited to syran wrapping my friend's VW Fox.

I got drunk one night camping out and passed out in the car while it was running. The thing overheated and ran for 6+ hours overheating. It got so hot it melted the gagecluster and vents. I'm lucky I didn't die

VW's are one type of car that I just can't get into

Being a VW person i can agree with you guys that yeah we do have some weird visions... such as our wide wheel/ tire stretching weirdness.... See the thing that motivates us to tire streching is trying to be like the old porsches i think. They had pimp *** rims w/ deep dishes.... we want to get the same thing but can not fit large rims on our cars... so we get a 0 offeset or neg offset rim to achieve that dish, and in order to clear we cut fenders and stretch tires to achieve the angle on the tires to fit under the fender.... see if you ever look at a mk1 or mk2 jetta/gti with 17's it looks horrible most of the time because the wheels are just tooo large looking... so it really limits us to 15 inch max to look good....

With old Vw's youll see there is alot of old Porsche parts going into them.. or old bmw parts...

And on the last note... Yeah we are a weird bunch of people but you'll learn that EVERY vw person mk1 and mk2 person at least can get along with the other. No matter what... there hasn't been one vw person i meet that i haven't been able to get along with.... but you see tension between honda people all the time... thtas what i dont get
