if you have XP Media Center, such as I, then you can watch tv on your laptop, listen to the radio.... all sorts of stuff

all the hookups are on this seperate little box (its like a small book), run a cable to your lappy and you are set

Anyway most of us here are into specifications, parts, and tuning stuff...after all, this is a homemadeturbo forum. We like to know how ---- works.

well it came with my laptop, but you can probably buy the setup..... a lot of desktops come with it now too

basically it allows direct connections for TV and cable (seperately even), radio, two sets of composite inputs, S video..... I also have a S video hookup on the laptop itself, whats neat is there is a remote so if you wanna watch a movie on the 17" widescreen you can without sitting super close. It also allows you to pause, record, rewind, and fast forward tv or radio.

Its a really neat setup, Media Center is just an addition onto XP Pro, so its good all around. I'd reccomend a comp with it to anyone (you dont have to be smart to use this all)

I just did some research and it looks like i can't run it. It requires 6 channel audio, a better 3d card, and some other stuff.

My next laptop will be from costco...you can change it out every 6 months for a new one!

My laptop has an s-video out too. but i dont really need it because i always have it hooked up to my 17'' widescreen tv via the VGA port. ( i don't have a DVI port).

never buy a dell. They suck so much. I got this one for cheap as hell though in December of 2003.

p4 mobile 3.06ghz hyperthreading, 512 ddr ram, 60 gig HD, DVD/CD-RW, gforce fx go5200, 15.4'' UXGA screen. Not bad for 2 years ago and 1200 dollars.

yeah, I like HP comps... got this one from CompUSA. Sweet talked my parents into paying 1400, and I paid the other 600. It is really a 2300 dollar laptop, but there were mondo rebates. I definately wont need to upgrade it soon, thats what I loved about it. It has everything, including lightscribe (which is really awesome I might add). I have the ATI X600 128MB graphics card, so playing computer games with the man is a lot of fun. *thumbs up*
