Default what are your plans after highschool....write up...

There was a post on here a few weeks ago about what people are doing after highschool and I said I would do a write up on the military...
I am a Marine, June 11 will be 3 years, so I pretty much know all of the games and ins and outs of it all. (im not a know it all but I know quite a bit...) I joined out of instinct. I got fired from a job and went straight to the recruiters office, the Marine recruiter was standing outside and bam! 2 months later im at Marine Corps boot camp. The Marines arent for everyone. Yeah its hard. we run alot, work out alot, do dumb ---- alot, but theres a reason for it all. Theres a reason for being so clean. Your around people from all over the world, so you never know how clean they are. The Marines are the best of the best. The worlds finest. Once a Marine, always a Marine. (this is true, any marine can pick out another marine in a crowd of 1000 people) People enjoy being a Marine. People are proud of being a Marine. I know other branches are proud of being in the military, but Marines are different, and anyone who knows a Marine can vouch for me.
About the other branches....I dont knock them at all.
All branches have there ups and downs just like any other job. As for which one is easier/harder, I cant really say, I would say though it depends on what your job is and who you work for, just like anyother job.
The up sides of being in the military...lots of benifets. GI bill, most go to some college while in the service that doesnt take away from the GI Bill. I can only talk about the Marine Corps and some Navy. Of coarse the ''free mediacal''--it isnt free. Its really really cheap though. The medical sucks. Its another peoson as old as you are, been in the military as long as you have working on you. ''Free'' food. its like a cafeteria. and it costs 250 bucks a month. The food isnt that bad. it really isnt. If your married, you get an extra money for housing and for being married. The military takes care of your spouse better than the Service member. --thats another subject though and is another write up.
Benifits I like.
We have hobby shops on base. An auto hobby shop(they know me by name) they have every tool, a full machine shop, lifts, everything. the welding shop is the same.
we also have a woodworking shop and various others...
Of corse its tax free shopping on base, and a huge discounted grocery store.
Theres alot of concerts and such on base that go on alot. Theres alot of nice things that go on on the weekends. Marines always have beaches....

this is just a brief statement of what I could talk about. I had a few PM's of people wanting me to talk about it. so here it is. ask me all the questions you want.
I can say Iven enjoyed my time in the military. Ive been to Spain, portugal, Italy, Iraq, Kuwait, Haiti. Thats about it. Spain was the best. (----- houses)
Let me know...

what's your job in the marines?

i know i've seen the infantry do their daily jobs (while not in combat) and these guys are always training to kill.. I'm glad i'm in the right side.

marines in my opinion will always have the most pride in their service, and i think it's because of what it takes to be one. (the most percentage compared to other services)

I did know this marine (Hollywood Marine) who transferred to the Air Force, and.. he didn't impress me.. he had a beer gut, looked like a goober and he didn't seem like your typical marine. Probably why he's in the air force now.

It's always funny how I see people from other services cross into the blue [USAF] but not the other way around. I guess once you've had enough of your gung-ho HOORRAAH-ing or HOOAH-ing and ready to settle down, air force is the way to go. something to think about.

Ohh yeah let me tell you there are some real dorks in the Marines. And you know, most people have this image of a Marine, this big build SOB thats all hard headed and wants to kill everything. Let me tell you, when I was in Iraq, it was shoot everything. I have devolped a short temper in the MC. THats about it. Im still human. About the muscles, Im not built, and I tell everyone, it doesnt take muscles to kick someones *** (although it helps) or pull a triger. I am a Green Belt, (the marines have there own hand to hand fighting skills) Green belt is about equilivant to a 1st degree katate belt. SO theres something else not so bad about the MC.

Green belt used to be 3 degrees up...until a few years ago then they switched up green and blue. At least that's how it was in Kyokashinki Karate (<---prob spelled wrong).

Ive seen a lot of Marine counters to things like choke holds and stuff, very lethal. Would not ever try to pick a fight with a Marine as many of their moves are ingrained with muscle memory. (meaning they can kill you without thinking about it)

You definatly learn in marshal arts that strength is just one of many factors in combat. Dont the Marines use Israeli Defense techniques? I read a lot about it, but cant recall what they call it, but its basically, kung fu/jujitsu/karate/boxing all rolled together. Sorry all off topic, but I just started to get back into the stuff and its all fresh in my mind from last night...

You guys should all go and check out your local Dojo (<--prop ) They will get you all in fighting shape...and after that go buy a heavy punching bag for home...lots and lots of fun, and 30mins on a bag will teach you how much shape a boxer needs to be in

your right. its so instinct it isnt even funny. When I go home and im ruffin around with my brothers, (all strong as hell) I fucked them up so fast and I didnt even think about it. I felt so bad....
another story, when I came home from boot camp,(boot leave) I was drunk as hell (im a marine, give me some beer attitude) and a kid tried some ---- with me and well I had to be pulled off of him. I had him in a choke hold from hell. He was about gone....its so natural. Sometimes it scares me.
