what would make this happen?

My fiance's mom has a '91 accord LX. she was on the freeway today doing about 80 and the engione just shut off on its own. No abnormal sounds, nor visible problems. any ideas?

it started right back up when she got it to the side of the freeway, and then she drove 80 miles home with no problems.

I think if the timing belt broke you'd know it. That would be accompanied by some "abnormal sounds".

no, there wouldn't be any sounds unless you were revvin the ---- out of it and the valves hit the pistons hard.

maybe there is a short, or a bad ground somewhere.
