Actually Techno Toy Tuning has one as their track car. Go check out the American Touge 2 dvd as it's on there. Why is it jdm gay? lightweight rwd chassis with a light, high reving factory engine, 6 spd tranny. I don't see what's wrong with that. Yeah the engine isn't some torque monster but with an 86 you don't need that. I think it's the perfect swap and even better then a SR swap for an 86.

Pelegri Didier on pgmfi did it to a B16, so can you.

And, stillnoturbo? I am sorely dissappointed as you normally get ---- right. A swap into an AE86, wtf? The 4A-GE is one hell of an engine, and capable of most anything that's thrown at it with some forgings. Think of a cast iron block D16. They rock.

flip the crank in the block and use the #1 cyl as the flywheel side

You gonna use pixy dust to turn the cams and water pump? Not to mention a whole slew of other problems.

Getting the motor to run in reverse is much easier.

Yeah 4AG's have been around the block quite a few times to say the least and not to mention their use in Formula Atlantic series. I just wasnt very keen on my 4AG in my 86....yeah it just had bolt ons and had a silvertop waiting in the garage but it's like DSM's. The stock rearend aren't the strongest things and didn't want to swap in a supra rearend. Had a 3rd member with a TRD 2 way setup by Toysport and after about 2 months of driving it started to whine. The original unit lasted a month after I installed a sprung 6 puck and then shaved all the teeth off the pinion gear. The rearends are like dsm drivetrains...engines are good as gold but then they have their achillies heel holding them back.

Then the diffs in the front and rear would 1:1. HAHA.

didnt even think about that, would prob be more reliable than just running one axle. if running it AWD i would use an LSD instead of welding it though

only problem about AWD w/ a 4cyl honda is the major lack of torque. only option, 86x95 straight LS on boost

Cut out the rear floor pan and run the car in a mid engined set up. Fitting a front end into the rear of the car. Alot of custom fabrication work, but perfectly possible for someone of your skill.
