Usually you have to register about 3 weeks in advance (different from state to state)
You pick up a form at the post office or library, fill it out, send it in. Then you start to get a voting pamphlet in the mail, with an absentee ballot, and info on your location to vote.
You go to your location and you give your ID and they check your name, then cross it out then you vote.
and there is the voting write up.

I had to explain to some kid the other day, that the WTC had been bombed by the blind sheik in like 93.
If you don't keep pace with current events, and have the capability to make an informed decision, you don't get to participate in steering the direction of this country.

I also had to explain to some chick that Biggie wasn't a psychic that predicted the WTC attacks

In Minnesota, you can register the day of elections, it's different per state. Look it up on the Secretary of State website, it'll tell you there.
Vote for the President you wish if you feel you are informed enough on the subject to do so, but for the local people, don't vote if you don't know. It's your responsibility if you want to vote to become informed.

Call your County commisioner. States all have different laws. In MN you can do same day registration. You can just walk up and prove that you live there and they will let you vote. I am an election judge, SDR is a pain in the ***, but it helps to make sure people don't miss out.
