Default for the welders here

which one is thicker, .225 or .35
I went for .35 and i tried welding my friends down pipe and there were so many exhausts leaks! and there was no way of fixing the leaks, it was crazy, i tried welding on the same spot to cover the leaks and nothing, i was getting leaks everywhere.

any advice?

stick with the .225 AKA .23 wire. it will be able to melt easier with out burning threw. i dont know if your welder came with feed/volt charts but if it doesnt start at the lowest volt setting and a "medium" wire speed. practice on scrap and have some fun. go to different heat settings and wire feed rates and see what happens to the weld. then you can make a judgment on the setting for your IC pipes. 0.02 , dave

he's right, i weld with a lighter and a shoe.

actually i suck at welding, ive done some light practice with an arc welder and a mig wire feed at work, its takes alot of practice.

the 0.02 is like thats my two cents on the topic.LOL

anyway look in the yellow pages and find the nearest welding shop/ supplier. they will help you pick out wire and gas and stuff. I bought a book " Monster Garage How to weld damn near anything. good short explanation on how to weld with mig, tig, and oxy act. go to barns and noble and pick it up or just sit down and read it there. that should get you fimilar with welding a little bit. $0.04 , dave
