Default This week, on As The Wires Burn- what not to do in a pole fire

http://link.brightcove.com/services/...tid=1483902004

Im not really sure who these guys are but I think that hosing it down with water would be the last thing i would do, the insulators were obviously tracking over to the arm and pole and burning everything. I would have just prolly dumped the the entire line out and went down the street, opened the circuit up (cut loops) and re energized it up to that point so i could work it dead, its just pretty dangerous to try and do this hot because it was only a matter of time before it went bad like it did. It looks to me like it was 13200 or 13800 or maybe even 14400v. Notice how the line tripped out also became energized at least 2x during this vid.

Wow. I just cringed as they brought that bucket closer to the pole and he sprayed water on it.

wonder if that was one of those "hey lets ---- with the new guy" moments, lol.

I don't get why they sprayed what looked like water on that, i mean of all the ------- fire trucks and ---- around its hard to imagine not having a co2 extinguisher :1

CO2 doesn't work well on a wood fire, DUH!

It would but the fire out, but the residual heat would have reignitied the wood.

Dry Chemical is the answer, something in a ABC form.

Sounds pretty stupid to me to spray water on it. I would have expected some sort of foam, maybe they thought the power was off and were just trying to put out that small flame?

When the del sol hit one of the guide wires for a telephone pole, it blew up a nice solid white/blue color.

they probably forgot to put soap in the water. water puts out any fire. water can mix with oil and make deep frying 50% more healthy. water is key.
