I'm with Mike, being a rotay guy myself, I've never heard anything bad about water injection. It will drop your charge temps and it keeps your engine all nice and clean on the inside Water injection by its self want give you much gain, but it allows for more boost and safer boost, which will. Its a nice safety net at any rate.

check out a company called aquamist http://www.aquamist.co.uk/ they have some cool stuff. There kits are not the cheapist, but i've heard tale of making your own kits using the water pump off of an RV (you need a big pump that can pump out the water at a higher rate than you are boosting or your water will never leave the bottle)

band aid my *** , i use water injection over much much much PSI, and still hold on, i never had to go to leaded gas or some craziast race gas, the only time i used 100 octane because my nozzle was loose and it was race night, and i didn't re program NOTHING, ran well but i but my datalogs show lil signs of detonation, i was afraid for the first time of blowing my motor, because of 100 octane wasn't good enough! sure it wasn't MUCH detonation, some people wouldn't consider it anything, but i do, being use to none or very very lil, that was too much for my blood. i think water injection bumps octane up much, because i see signs of detonation with 100 octane and that isn't good.

and remmeber start out slow, since there is no way to know what type of nozzle u suppose to use, start slowly, bigger is not always better for piston engines(hydrolock = no pretty), i say try start with medium around 0.5 nozzle and move ur way up until u feel slight rich problems, for me it's .8 for 15 psi.

Neoboi,
What else do you know about water injection? How would you say the install is on a d16z6. In the summer i overheat and run slow as hell under boost.(i live in az w/ triple digit heat) Would i still be able to boost if i use water injection? Would this make a huge diference in triple digit weather?

I am mostily concerned about the install. I would buy a WI kit, but can a newbie like myself install it?

Any info would help. thanks

taking corky bell's approach? There have been a few cars that came with water injection standard (the Buick GN was going to, but they changed it at the last minute). I think running it if you don't have an IC (or don't have enough room) is a great idea. If you do use alky, do a 50/50 mix, and always use distilled water.

Home made set up of water injection going on my car with the new motor. We'll see how it goes, only cost about $210 to get all the parts shipped to me...

Well essentially both Intercoolers and Water Injection do indeed do the same thing with different aproaches... Ok so an intercooler cooles the air through a medium such as alumium which is either cooled with water or air.. Water injection kits spray a stream of water into the intake path, because water has very good heat properties when the water atomizes heat is essentially removed from the intake charge..

water injection is simple to install if you know what your doing, all u have to do is know a little about wiring, if you know a little about installing decks and speakers, that's all u need to know, to drill in nozzles/injectors is simple to just drillin a tap and install the nozzle, make sure it's install before the throttle body and best after intercooler, and install a pressure switch if you want the water injection to come on at certain psi, simple kits that you can make is fairly cheap and works well, but aquamist and other companys make great kits but expensive, aquamist is like the ultimate in water injection, it has all these computer controls so u get extactly how much water and it's tune-able.


as for boosting, water injection is the bomb, it's tight *** hell, , it allows more boost and more advance timimng with lower octane, and since ur in hot weather you would be able to cool down the intake charge and drive alot better, smoother and more crisp, no lie, but cooling the over heating isn't it's main purpose, the cooling system on your car needs to be checked first, water injection would help alot though, because water vapor takes the heat with them cooling the system down alot.

and the reason u run slow as hell under boost because the heat, and that is causing your to detonate, since ur ecu knows what's up it RETARDS the timming alot to help ur engine to stay alive, in order for it to run more better you need to let the ecu advance the time, with higher octane or water injection.

Get'm both, or at least water injection.
We'll see how my kit goes, it is fairly easy to set up, I say that the bitch is gonna be finding a way to mount some of the hoses around lol... guess I could drill and tap, and use brake line holders. Oh well we'll see
