want to build a v8 turbo car

Re: want to build a v8 turbo car
If you are contemplating building a 383 then you better save up if you want it to last very long. The cheapo way to build one is using the 400 rods(5.565") and using low compression 350 pistons. This way yeilds an terrible 1.48:1 rod to stroke ratio. The best way is to use 6.000" rods with pistons that have the correct compression height. This a fairly common combination and there are plenty of off the shelf pistons to use this combination. The rod to stroke ratio is much better at 1.6: but noithing spectactular. Keep in mind that the R/S ratio for a 350 is 1.64:1. Also finding an early 70's 350 bloack with the higher nickel content will help with bore longevity.
The big problem with 305s is the tiny *** bore when used with the 2 valve configuration. I would think that turboing a 305 would prove to work out pretty well. The only way I would use a 305 is if I already had a car with one in it and the then engine is in good shape.
Damn if have no idea what you are talking about then please don't speak. The 305 has a bore that is almost a quarter on an inch smaller. I'd say that make for a pretty big difference. :1

I think you need to spend some time getting your hands dirty, working on + learning about cars. I'm going to go ask Jeff if we can't make your mentioning of S10's or 4.3 liter V6 grounds for 3 day bans, thereby creating goodly sized chunks of free time in which you can actually learn about cars.
