update..my 50 dollar paint job
well i decided to fix some rust on my mud truck, and try the 50 dollar paint job:
parts include: patch panels, 1 quart of bondo body filler, smooth paint rollers, trays, 1 pint of rustoleum primer, 1 gloss green and 1 of gloss black, mineral spirits, touchup brushes, etc..
the trucks a 1993 ford f-150 they always have problems with rusting out around the wheel arches so i felt like fixing it.
weleded in the patch panels....took a few hours then grinded the spot welds down and went to town with some bondo
this is the product on one side:
sprayed some primer over it, so it wouldn't rust
same thing on the other side:
The panels and bondo took about a week due to the fact of going to class and working, but it didn't turn out too bad. After I sanded the whole truck down and got everything smooth I rolled some rustoleum primer on. I let that dry and rolled 7 coats of gloss hunter green rustoleum diluted 50/50 with mineral spirts. Between every coat I wet sanded (this is very tedious) and it took a long time. This is the 7th coat not wet sanded, I'm doing a two tone gloss black and gloss green:
The primer looks like ---- and people in my apartment gave me pretty weird looks..
Today I got the 2nd to last coat of black on and it looks pretty decent, Ill be doing the last coat on sunday, then letting it dry , after that wet sanding with 1200grit and then buffing to make it glossy
*Finally* I got time to polish and buff the paint. The end product doesn't look too bad. I'd probably do it again.

truck looks good from the pics you have up.
i painted my wife's fairlane with rustoleum. flat black, looks good. we sprayed it on since we have a gun and air compressor. did that ---- in the driveway so there is some flaws from leafs and dirt, but it's just a temp solution to the faded ugly blue it was.
here is a crappy cell phone pic. this is not our house in the background. the car broke down on the way home from work. god damn fords
oh and the white stripe going down the side is now red and we painted the stock steel wheels red also
we spent about $40 on all the supplies to paint her car. hope it holds up for a few months till we can get some real flat black automovtie paint.
