Todd spent most of the day watching me screw around with the wideband... the crappy thing isn't working; I'm halfway through troubleshooting it right now. Building the harness for it took FOREVER, too. But it's industrial quality, should ast forever.

Well, we pulled a little more fuel out, running 0.960-0.980 through most of WOT and boost, got the idle mostly tuned by nose/quality. The SC61 is putting out a few psi by 3500 rpm and has full boost (6-7 psi) before 4000 psi... we lowered VTEC from 4400 to 4000 as it was a harsh transition instead of smooth - I kinda think we could go a few hundred rpm lower and be fine. Power seems to jump in VTEC due to more airflow.

We can hear the RFL now... the car is just plain loud so sometimes it is hard to miss. :>

----, I'm tired.

LOL, JD... Dont worry brother, I dont have the sexiest hair line myself.. I just said ---- it, and shave it down now..

I'm really digging this entire setup, Todd you do nice work, and I'm really jealous that you have a SC61 on your car. That ------- thing can make some good power if its properly tuned. 4500vtec? JD, get that thing on a dyno, your loosing big power when its set that low, I normally have them set 55-6000 range.

Todd does the best work, yes.

I know the butt dyno is worthless compared to a real dyno, but the whole car literally jerked forward at 4400 VTEC and now the transition is smooth at 4000 with good power at that point and up. Given the fact the AF isn't nailed down yet, due to crusty wideband, the VTEC point can and will change.

As far as the now blown out of proportion hairline thing... I haven't cared in a couple years. I still get the same number of ugly bitches, plain bitches, and sexy bitches adoring me as always. My take on it? There are a whole lot of tasteless women in the world.

Hey its Todd. Thanks for the compliments and suggestions. Jeff- I think VTEC really needs to be that low. I know everyone says you need it to be higher but... If you think about it I am already cramming 6psi into the manifold when it opens. Why not have more lift to get that air in. When VTEC turned on at 4400rpm it was like hitting a nitrous button. At 4000 its alot smoother.

One other thing about the turbo. There is viturally no Lag. Any time you hit the gas the car just accelerates, I kind of expected to have it hesitate for a spilt second while the turbine caught up. Not the case. I really like the precision turbos. I recomend them to anyone.

Also this is not the final setup. In a few days to a week I hope to have a front mount intercooler and the air filter will be reworked. That was a temporary fix so I didn't suck any small children into the car. I already had an R1 try to race.. I lost.

Put it on a dyno, money says you will have a huge dip in power with vtec set that low.. Trust me... me and beau did the whole butt dyno thing years ago, and we were all about setting vtec around 4-4500 ish, not only does it sound cooler it does feel smoother. But the dyno really proved us wrong. What cams are you using and are you using cam gears?

Jeff, you're right - time to hit the dyno, or at least hook up a G meter to datalogging so we can calc how hard the car pulls at such rpm and such gear.

The GS-R is stock except for turbooooooooo, no cams or gears.

Turbo likes, traditionally, high lift and no/little overlap (in single cam world, referred to as LSA; lobe seperation angle). Given that this is a tubular manifold and peaky turbine with efficient GT series compressor, I think you'd find the engine behaves more like a traditional NA engine, where some overlap works pretty well. The way the car jumps forward with VTEC at 4400 rpms, on transition into VTEC, demonstrates that this setup likes the overlap.

Anybody with a little DIY-wideband experience I can bother? I'm getting 3.4 volts in open air instead of 4.0, and while we have the car tuned (according to wideband) to a 11.8-12.1 AF under boost, there's a good cloud of soot from the exhaust under boost that makes me think the mix is way too rich still.
