The truck in question is a big ******. 2008 Chebby 3500hd LLM duely He tows with it and hauls with it, its a work truck so one day it might tow the escavator and the next it might tow his albermarle down to Florida. He just wants to do a few things to get a few more MPG's out of it, not so much for the haul *** aspect. BullyDog seems to be real popular for the chebby crowd so maybe I'll go with that, i keep hoping to find a local Diesel forum so I can find a tuner in the VA area, local tuner would be cheaper then buying a $600 flasher to use once.

I'm still thinking 4", intake and Bully dog chip is the way to go

before you 'retune' with the $$$ flasher, get all of the mechanical out of the way. maybe he'll be happy with that? If he just wants a few extra MPG, then you need to clear up in/out restrictions first. He doesn't need to dump more fuel.
even tho chipping supposedly gains MPG, i'm sure he'll negate all that with a new found enthusiasm for dropping the hammer...

The new Chevy Diesels suck on gas from what I have heard. Many of the guys have dumped them right away and gone to gas, or back to the older duramax trucks.

On the new ones, you can not do a turbo back exhaust. You can only do cat back exhaust. Well, unless you want to step up to the big boy parts and full EMS to delete all the emissions stuff that come on them and is part of the cat. More then likely, even the programers will not eliminate that. I have not done much looking to see if any of the major exhust companies have produced a turbo back for them yet.

As the truck gets broke in, mileage should increase slightly. But not much.
