Re: truck rental
what are you worried about the cost? You won't be around to pay the bill once the thing blows.
Sorry someone had to say it.
I've gone the penske route twice recently. once from moving my gram from florida to pa, other the rents locally here in pa. Most like budget, uhaul, penske have estimators on what size truck you'll need. Look that ---- up online, get estimates, then call the local renter. Penske was twice as much online, but we called the local place and it turned out to be the cheapest. + they gave us a truck with a liftgate for free (26 footer).

the most commond one is a " self-destoryable odometer" , whenever the cable/wireharness is disconnected the odometer itself will be heated up and melt . The mechanic told me theres certain steps inorder to remove it without it burning up.
and incase if you do need a rental truck , do NOT rent from u-haul simply becasue they have the highest 'broken down" rate.
thats 1359miles from 33071 to 48210
a fully loaded 24ft gets about 5mpg . you will need 271.8 gallons comes out to $870 @ 3.2/Gal
a fully loaded 15ft gets about 9mpg. you will need 151gallons, comes out to $483 @ 3.2Gal
With BUDGET a 15ft is 1100 ish with unlimited miles. 24ft is 1500 ish with no limlit as well.
so with the 24ft you are looking at $1600 , 15ft you are looking at $2370 . and both plan are ONE-WAY ( i don`t think you would want to drive it back )
hand truck is about 24 dollars for the trip. I am not sure how much stuff you have but you want to stuff your ---- as packed-up as possible becasue with large truck, if theres any left over space your ---- will jus tbang againest eachother and break.
Never move during early or end of the month coz the rate will always go sky high, and always get a quote in ALL the local office, even if that means you have to dirve an extra 50 miles to pick it up, because a lot of times when someone at the destnation needs a truck quick or there are too many one-way trucks in the area, the dealers would want to get rid of them asap by lowering the rate to an un-belivably low level. the lowest i`ve seen is 99 dollars with unlimited miles going from los angeles to somehwere midwest.
Oh, don`t forget to look around for coupons, one-way rentals are under corprate control so they usualyl accept almsot any coupon. first place to look at is the local post office in the little addres-change package. it gives u like 15% off AFAIR. for each thousand dollars u gets like $150 off sounds fair enough
