yea, he definately knew he had a safety net, but that tree sure took a hit and held its ground.

I'd definately be standing in the short raduis of any turn. A few people back from the edge. But definately not on the outside of a turn.

The corner worker was definitely on the wrong side of that curve. Whoever set up the worker assignments and placement blew it. The safest place is always the short side of a turn. If the car flips or slides out of control, it will
move away from apex of the turn. Straightaways are another matter, there I'd want as many trees as possible.

Lucky fellow none the less...

oh course the short side of the turn is safer, but did you peoples thinks of this:

Why the put him on the long side of the turn?

First thing that comes to mind, car runs off the road flips over a few times, if the worker was on the short side he'd have to run through the track and has to do like the froggy game and hope not to get hit. What's that wait til the cars all pass through, seconds are valuable when saving a person's life. They are on the long side, to get to the action sooner and oddly safer. And they gave him a whistle, that's his job :P

But still is definitely lucky, had the car impacted slightly of it could have twirled around the tree and caught his ***.
