Default Trading work for paint = the suck!

So a while back i made arrangements with a guy to have my car painted in exchange for a boosted motor. Well i built the motor and the douche lags on getting anything done to his own car cause well, hes a douche. so for the past year he's been going on about how he wants to finish paitning my car ( its currently primered and all the dents removed ) and im thinking, great! Fastforward to lets say 2 weeks ago and i drop the car off at his "shop" and still nothing's been done to it. He keeps saying" this weekend for sure i'll have it painted" and im saying ok. To add to the drama he aslo dodges my calls whenever i try to get a hold of him when we have made arrangements to paint the car. He gives me lame excusea as to hoe he left the phone at home or the battery died, yeah right. The funniest one of them all is that hes said he had to be with his mom at the doctors and i drive by the shop and his car is there...

long story short... need car painted by someone else and i thought about eral schieb. thinking of getting the pro4 package... what do you think?

---- that ----, the prep/body work sounds like it's been done. Scuff the car, buy your paint and clear and find someone who's willing to shoot it for 100 bucks.

I got a cheap hvlp gun at northern tool (harbor freight type ----) for $40. Hook it up to the biggest compressor you know of and a single stage paint can't cost more than $150 for the gallon.

If you really want to go the distance, spray 2 or 3 coats of 2k primer on it, let it dry, and block sand the whole thing. Then spray it with epoxy primer (sealer) and then spray the paint.

All that would probably run you about $400 plus your time, but you'll at least know what's happening to it. Anytime you're dealing with shady people, you're dealing with shady work. Laggers lag until you push them, then they rush through their end of the deal and leave you with a fucked up job.

Solid advice there.

If I was being lazy, and you kept interrupting my laziness, I would make sure to do the work as lazily as possible.

I plan on painting mine myself. Have a couple friends that are going to split the cost of equipment so it won't cost much of ---- and will be a good learning experience.

aww that sucks mang. take it to the one day paint in the cpt. talk to marcos. For the price of and earl scheib pro4 theyll throw in some labor and you can use their 50$ off coupon.
ps. ill buy that block from you

and i wouldnt recommend painting it yourself on your own car. go to a shop that can give you a warranty. ---- breaking your back sanding and primering and sanding and primering just so you can make drips all over the place, then having to do it all over.

Paint is overrated bro. I say sand it down to bare metal and just clearcoat it. I say just take it to Maaco's as the body work is done already and tape it up or you'll end up with overspray on ---- or ---- painted you didn't want painted. Or just do what you want. The Maaco paint job on my rolla was pretty good for the price. Though it varies from shop to shop from what I heard.

hey julio, I'll shoot it in my homie's backyard if you bring it over... and while you are there you can help me replace the wiring on my CRX :P

My car is sitting in his backyard primered and hopefully tomorrow if I wake up early enough, I'll be spraying it with paint. I can't guarantee that I'll be able to produce A+ quality results, but I think I could do better than earl schiebs or macco. Local paint shop, you can get paint, clear, etc. for like $150.oo Or you could go single stage for like 1/2 that price. Primer is like 30 bucks for 1/2 gallon, but you said the car is already primered so you really don't need that.
