Limiting your upload that low on a good connection isn't a good idea. Like they said before, if you have a shitty up/down ratio then you'll get lower download speeds.

Also, torrenting isn't an overnight deal. Sometimes you have to wait weeks, months or more to download some files. It takes about half a day to a day for me to download a popular movie ~800mb-1gb, and it took me a whole month to get all 20 episodes of Stargate SG-1 season 10. I've got Comcast too, and my downloads range from <1kb/s up to 300+kb/s. It does all depend on the seeders.

For setting up the router and stuff.....

It's important that you get a static-IP and open up the port in your router [virtual server].

Utorrent is fine, doesn't use a lot of memory.

sorry to tell ya but i dl'd 18 full length movies yesterday/last night that I KEPT. there were about 5 that were just horrible quality that i trashed. and during the whole dl'ing process i was burning them to dvd.

so my laptop stayed at 75% load all day yesterday and uTorrent gave me a max speed of 1315kb/s, with an average of 650 kb/s. (I have a Pent Dual Core 2060 1.6ghz running Vista Home w/ 1.5 gig of RAM and another 2 gig stick running "Ready Boost" and a 160 gig HD). Needless to say, I dont have some slow *** computer.

no movie took over a hour to download and i would have 3-5 dl'ing at the same time. most of the movies had at least 40+ seeders

i am using www.mininova.com and so far my favorite poster is aXXo.

So far I have gotten...
American Gangster
Grindhouse Death Proof
Grindhouse Planet Terror
Pirates of the Caribbean - At Worlds End
The Bourne Ultimatum
Transformers
Spiderman 3
Rounders
The Pursuit of Happiness
Hannibal Rising
Knocked Up
Oceans 13
We Are Marshall
Blades of Glory
Fantastic 4 - Rise of the Silver Surfer
Return to the House on Haunted Hill
Saw 4
30 Days of Night

lets see....

watch the movies on a 15.4 in laptop or 17" PC, OR a 53" Sony Big Screen

i think i will dl them and burn them and watch them on the big tv.

plus, i am dl'ing some kids stuff for my daughter so i would rather her mess with the dvd player and tv rather than my computers.

no problems yet. what should I be expecting as a hassle?

i am using the newest uTorrent (which looks and acts exactly like BitTorrent FYI). come to think of it, BitTorrent bought uTorrent and molded the two together.

dont get me wrong, i can hookup up the laptop via the S video connection.

I just prefer the DVD method myself.

because with my daughter, she is 1 and she just LOVES to play with any cord around. having another cord going to the tv is most likely not a good thing if i want to keep the laptop on top of the table in one piece.

plus, when i have to watch a movie with my wife that i really dont care for, i can still get on the internet with out ------- ---- up on the TV.

so your way is fine for you, my why is fine for me. leave it at that

by the way noob, your **** post was weak. if i wanted to look at hamburger i would have went to the grocery story.
