Seeing as how alot of people are into drag racing here I thought I'd list some facts i read today about Top Fuel dragsters..

1. A stock 426 Hemi v8 cannot produce enough power to drive the dragsters supercharger

2. With 3000CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive the fuel mixture is compressed to a near solid form before ignition. Cylinder run on the verge of Hydro lock at full throttle.

3. To exceed 300mph in 4.5 seconds a dragster pulls an average of 4G's. In order to reach 200mph before 1/8 mile launch accel is close to 8G's

4. Top fuel dragster engines turn approx. 540 revs from light to light.

5. Including the burnout, the engine must survive 900 Revs under load.

6. Current record is 4.441 @ 333.25 mph.

Good ----. I've always been into drag racing.

I've also heard that the amount of fuel needed for that 4.5 seconds is the equivilent to 15 shower heads on high during that same time.

there were some top fuel dragster at my local track about 2 mos. ago and i missed it my boys went and got some shitty *** video (they were hammered and didn't want to hold the camera still :P), but, they could only run the 1/8th b/c if they ran the quarter, they wouldn't have had enough room to stop

I go to the Keystone nationals (now Lucas nationals) almost every year. When those top fuelers go down the track you can feel it in your chest. Its really something to see and hear. Make sure you wear a white shirt so you can see the particles of rubber on it.

Also any car that can burn off 6 foot high slicks after the 8th mile doing over 250mph is crazy

The drivers sometimes black out becuase the G's are too much.
