I think it has a titanium nitride coating. It's hard and smooth, used for making cutting tools more durable, or moto fork legs stiction free.

I don't think the coating will help the performance of a manifold.

4wdwagon beat me to it. It's probably Ti Nitride coating.

no its not, titanium nitride coating is not very cheap and is not an off the shelf process. China is not engineering this stuff, they are 11 yr old boyen' it.

all they did was didint put the chrome plate on!!. go peal off chrome you see that gold coating underneeth. its a filler metal to smooth the metal getting chromed out so the chrome looks nice and shiny.
