tips for the track
im about to go to import wars next sunday, and i will be racing my 1990 civic si down the track for mine and the car's first time. I will be running simply n/a a6 with intake and muffler. I would just like to know some general tips when going to the track.
How much psi should i have in my tires?
Should i launch at redline? Should I shift at redline? (6000)
Whate the general 1/4 mile time for a n/a a6 ef?

go practice before the next race. that is the best you can do to get ready. we can tell you many many things you can do, but in general the best thing to do is simple practice.

25 psi in the fronts, 50 psi in the rears, drive around the water box.......
Launch at 3000 and slip the clutch to avoid major wheelspin, but the still should howl.
Shift at 6800 on stock tach.
15.7 depending on driver and track elevation.

3K launch seems a little low and more like a riding the clutch pull-out for a newer driver. I'd go up to 4500 even. I have before and bogged on all-seasons. I just think 3K is a bit low and when lowering tire pressure, burning out, and racing on a sticky surface I don't think 3K will cut it. You'll get more than 1 run in though so jump around.
HOWEVER, the 3K with slip I might try to avoid straight spinning at the line. It seems as though it may work well, but I have a late spooling turbo so who knows. The launch advice I gave is just expierence and what not that I have had. N/A I used to launch at 3500. Try a few spots. Remember though slipping 3K and dumping 3K are two TOTALLY different styles and outcomes. Good luck and post back with results.
