Soaking it isn't going to do ---- unless you:
A) already have the actual film off.
B) It's bubbling like crazy and you're soaking it to get it bubbling fast (a.k.a. coming off)
Really, get a corner up and slowly pull as much off as possible. The defroster will only come off if you hit it with a razor blade. Anything else discussed here won't do it.

Alright I just did mine the other day because of a ticket. If its fresh (new to a year or so), it should come off easy..
Do it in the daytime when there is plenty of sun and heat. At the top of the window, use a razor and get underneath the tint and window.. Spray windex or soap and water in the crevice you now made and spray the rest of the tinted window.. Put a garbage bag on the window, it should stick easily.. It will heat up the tint a bit. Then leave it for 15 minutes, respray and start peeling, and use the razor as needed but try not to use it too much if you want a huge peel and not all kinds of tint slivers you need to clean up after.. should come off easy.
Now if your tint is purple because its 15 years old then I have no clue.
Oh yeah and that sticky residue is still on my windows so I dont know how to get that ---- off.

Don't listen to that punk above me. Get a corner up with a razor blade, then grab tightly and zip that ---- off the window quickly. If it isn't 15 years old it'll come off in one piece.
Don't anybody listen to the real live OG mufukkaz no moe? Once you're at imburne stage (sticky glue on your window), spray bottle with 95% water and 5% dish soap. Spray that ---- like a liberal sprays money at a school district, and take a CLEAN, NEW, razor blade and scrape that ---- off. If your blade isn't clean, or isn't new, you risk scratching the ---- out of the window without even knowing it. I KNOW it because I did it to a guys brand new focus, and he took it in for warranty because I told him it wasn't my ----. Welcome to me when I was 20. Now that I'm older, what I tell you is trufe. Kiss my ballz.
