tieing two batterys together
i need some info on tieing batterys together
im installin a system on a guys boat and cant find a good place for a ------- ground that isnt 15 feet away, and he has a spare battery over by where the amp and sub will be, so i figured i could tie the two together and get a good ground off the battery
what do you guys think? ------ fiberglass is a bitch to find a place to ground on
sorry mods if this is in the wrong place, didnt know where to put it

Re: tieing two batterys together
i wouldnt tie both batterys together because unless they are the same age/size/type/brand they might discharge eachother. You can use a battery isolator but id just get 2 of the same batteries or get a bigger one

Re: tieing two batterys together
the problem isnt power, its finding a ground for the amp
the batterys are the same size, and approximately the same age, i honestly dont think brand has much to do with anything
i just need ideas to find a good ground for this amp besides haveing to run a ground wire thats 15 feet long

Re: tieing two batterys together
you might wana get an expert opinion on this... isn't something i would want to skimp out on.
however it seems like you want to connect two batteries together... what's the need to connect the terminals? Just source the ground for battery A and share that with battery B [either by the ground point, or splicing the ground wire]. There seems to be no point in connecting the positive and negatives of the two batteries together especially since you say there is no issue with power [which would seem to be the only reason you would want to connect two batteries together to run in series for some more juice].
Again no expert here

just run a thicker gauge ground wire back to something you can ground on.
