Ann Arbor is a college town. Right now you have a shot at the seniors or grad students. If you wait any longer you are going to have to start going after the 30 something single women(probably gross) or the now divorced, single mothers(baggage). As long as you are in some suburban area, there will be women.

Sounds like you need to sit down and have a discussion with your parents. After being away from home so long, I'd want something in paper saying what was expected of either side. Nothing worse than empty promises and stupid assumptions.

Anyway, if she's good looking and a decent human being, who cares? Go get a log cabin on the lake with a fishing boat and enjoy life. Just make sure the cabin is far enough and shitty enough she won't want to come along. That way you can be a bad husband and never see her if you don't like her. Also get a pre-nup.

The arrainged marriage thing doesn't bode well for independance. You need to address that first thing, tell the parents simply you enjoy YOUR life and wouldn't enjoy it becoming THEIR life so they need to butt out. You do need certain weather. I'm not exactly sure what kind, but there's a belt up around there that grapes grow excellently in. There's a few vineyards out on Put-in-Bay and Kelly's island in lake Erie also. I'm sure there's more, but I'm not aware of them. If I recall correctly, it's on the same parallel as the wine growing regions in France.
