that $2 a minute idea sounds like a bad idea to me. yeah it's a great way to make extra money, but after i rent your ski for 4 hours and pay $200 then i go over 15 mins and it cost me $30 more i'm not gonna rent from you again, even though i signed saying i'd pay the extra ----.

my friends and i go wakeboarding a few times a year and we always rent from the same guy cause he gives us all the time we want instead of the normal 6 hour day. we pay the same amount as everyone else does for 6 hours and we get it for 8-10 hours.

i don't know what lake you are gonna be renting on, but repeat business is a great way to make money. this guy knows we are gonna rent the boat 3-4 times every summer and 1-2 times in the winter.

i say if you are gonna charge by the hour, then prorate the hours with a minimum of 2 hours.

oh and make sure it's in the contract saying if they break the ski then they have to pay for the time that it's under repair also.
if we break this guys boat and he has it rented out for the next 5 days, we gotta pay for the days he can't rent it.
i think that's a great thing.

I'm not looking to make a living off of it. This would be just a summer business.

Personally, I'd try a couple stand ups with a couple sit downs and see where the useage is. Lots of people enjoy hopping on a sea doo that doesn't take skill lol.

Well I have started 5 business's to this point. I have lost some, money made some money, most of all I have learned a ton. As long as you are well insured, and can limit your liability, I would go for it. If nothing else you will learn a lot about business.
