cookie cutter alarms are not going to do anything to prevent well anything.

Those guys obviously were amature and didn't give a ----, they'd still ---- your ---- up if you had an alarm.
A real theif can bypass/disable a cookie cutter alarm quickly. I've even done a few on used cars friends bought without a key fob. They really are useless.

If you want to do anything aside from parking it in a safe place and watch it, learn how some of your key electronics work and how you can disable them. Then add some kill switches or relays in areas that are not the norm like every generic car alarm, be original.
Steal key components like ecu, injector resistor box, or key fuses every time you leave the car. (some thieves carry spares though, and if it's obvious what you're doing and someone see's you then it's not usefull either)

Whatever you do, do not tell anyone and especially don't share on the net. I have some foolproof ways I plan on adding to my car if I ever move to a higher risk area or actually put anything of value in my car, but there is no way in hell I'm sharing them.

Yeah and the sad part is if your alarm is going off most people will just walk by it and pay no attention. I have a kill switch on my car, but never use it as the car theft aroudn here is almost unheard of. The guy I bought it from was from Cali and someone tried to steal it before and failed. Just busted the window. I can't find another kill switch like it anywhere, and was actually thinking of working off the design and having some made.
