they do sort of (i used to raise chickens at home). and the actual killing of the chicken was not my point, im sure it died shortly after. what i was trying to say is that if you empty a clip into a chicken it should not be in one piece. try shooting a chicken 9 times with a 40 or a 45 and see whats left.

wanna sign a waiver and let me shoot you with some hollow plus ammo and see if you can stay standing? then i can say i shot someone AND prove my point. maybe shooting someone in the stomach might not drop them, but i can aim well enough to hit a more critical region.
---- no, i was trying to say that while a 9mm is a potent round, it doesn't pack the hydrostatic shock needed to put some people down. neither does a .40, but there is quite a bit more DPF in a normal store bought .40 round than in a 9mm round.

maybe if you used hollowpoints it may have been different, maybe not, who knows.

As far as that article, I dint like it much, basically said carry a bigger gun. Well I'd carry a 44mag if I felt comfortable holding a hand cannon and only having 6 rounds, as far as my 9mm goes I have 18 and could take down 3x as many people, sure it may not b an instant drop but that's where having extra rounds comes in handy. But I will admit after reading this thread I would like a .45 or 40 cal.

after buying my 9mm, i immediately regretted not buying the .40 instead. .40 or bigger will be my next purchase

I carry a Springfield Armory XD-45 and with the extra magazine with me I have 27 rounds on me of .45 ACP. Look into one of those scott, you'll love it.

The only problem with the .40 is the ammo is a little more than the .45 other than that I do like the hitting power of a lager cal. But then again a .357 is a mean ----------er. We have shot wet phonebooks with lots of different rounds and cal. and by far the .45 would do the most damage if you got hit by it. But the velocity of the .357 was just WOW......

the xd-45 looks pretty nice, and at around 500-600 its not a bad buy. 13 rounds is a nice ammount for a 45. Only thing i dont like about it is the size, concealed carry with it wouldnt be too easy.

I'm 5'10" 150lbs on a good day and I conceal it just fine. My old roommate just bought one of the subcompact versions it feels a little weird witht he shorter grip because my pinky hangs over just a bit but you can get the little plastic thing to extend it -just- enough to make it comfortable and that's still a 10+1. It comes with one of those mags and one of the normal size 13+1. I have one of the first few that came out and It is 4" model with the longer grip.
