symptoms of a blown head gasket?
Hey guys,
Pretty sure the head gasket in my D16 finally kicked the bucket. It had been running 8-9 psi hard on a shitty *** FMU b/c my TE PM6 didnt want to run my 440 injectors, so therefore the car was tuned like ----..but thats another story.
anyhoo had a Z6 MLS headgasket in it and the car ran great for 2 months, until it started overheating like crazy.
threw a new thermostat in, then driving the car home from work, overheated again. I pulled over in a parking lot to check out the quick basics and everything looked ok. I did hear a bit a lifter tick as i pulled into the parking lot, so i threw a little bit of oil in it and it seemed to smooth out.
Soon as i started driving again, temp started to climb into the hot zone.
Got the car home, checked things a little more closely. came the realization that there was no coolant in the lower rad hose, none in the upper, but no puddles to indicate a coolant leak.
flushed the cooling system once again, took the car for a drive. inital test drive looked to be ok, get it home and the overflow bottle is boiling like crazy, but temp gauge is reading in the middle?
no coolant/oil mix and no coolant leaks, are the chances good that its an internal failure the head gasket?
