Stupid V8 Question

Stupid V8 Question
Well I have found an 1986 Iroc with out an engine (sounds stupid but its a kit car). I was wondering if i could some how manage to fit in an LS1. I think the Iroc had a 305 in it and the LS1 is a 350 if not mistaken. I have been searching for a while but I haven't had much look to a real answer to that. Sry this is kinda stupid.
Thanks,
Tom

Re:Stupid V8 Question
you can put a 350 in it. its realy easy to do. or you can step up to a bigger engine like a 385 witch is like 450hp a 425 the 440 or a 502. i wouldent spend the money on an ls1 from the vette i would just go with a pretty basic block then build it up. if you can find one the pontiac 400 is a realy good engine. but an lt1 can make some sick power when its stroked with some built heads. or you could get a 350 save some engine compartment room. and throw a twin turbo setup on it if you get one of the efi v8's

Re:Stupid V8 Question
You know I was thinking some thing very simular to that. I just hope I am not mistaken I really would like to get this car. Because I still want to do that quad turbo LS1, but I think the Fiero would be cramped as hell and would over heat like nothing else. Any one else have more Input?
Thanks

Re:Stupid V8 Question
anybody know where to get the efi 350s? my dad wants one for his 65 chevy and I haven't been able to find one, I would like it complete with the wiring harness and ecu so I don't have to ---- with all of that and it's nice and easy.

Re:Stupid V8 Question
What is the 385 out of? Idk I would prob. end up going for a twin turbo t3/t4 setup. But i haven't looked at the charts and such yet. I would love to get up to 500hp but man any thing higher would rule. I am kind of a newbie, and I am just really interested in learning right now so any information you have would be very nice.

Re:Stupid V8 Question
wow this has to be the most fucked up quantity of information I've seen in a single post. What exactly is a 385? Would that be a 350 stroked to a 400 crank and bored over .040 versus the typical bore over of .030 in a 383?
I don't feel like looking up the formula right now but something is off.
Yes the LS1 will fit, many people have done it. A decent used LS1 will run you around a grand but I think the compression is a bit high for you to throw quad turbo power to it.
What exactly are you looking for Kyle? If it's a "fuel injected" 350 then go pick the electronic carb off of any pre vortec style chevy 350 and run with that. Better yet go standalone that will run you around a grand.
I think I'll let random-strike finish this thread off.

Re:Stupid V8 Question
Well just looking at the differences between my beater 86 Elcamino w/a 350 and my dad's LS1 in his 98 vette..
Elco has a distributor, carb, vaccuum advance, old school tech. Easier to tune. To a point
Vette Distributorless Coil on Plug, still a pushrod PAIN IN THE *** TO WIRE IN I WOULD THINK!!!
The blocks are the same in the 305/350.
The Mythical 383 is as u stated a 350 w/a 400crank which is the 30 possibly .60 over.
What u drop in to this vehicle is based on what u want it for. For the glitz and glamour effect LS1!
Or Dime a dozen easy to fix driver go oldschool carbed!
And the price difference is insane between the 2!
Ls1 will cost all said and done $3000ish w/loom
An HEI style old Chevy shouldn't be more than a grand total for a good running vehicle.
Or the pre vortec engines the Throttlebody junk engines
but i won't even get into that!
I'm no chevy expert just stating what little I know.
Good luck either way!
